Annual Women Breast Cancer Awareness $500k in donations
The Walk For Women Breast Cancer Awareness Walk takes place
on the Island every year. The event is run entirely by volunteers and aims to help women in the lower Rio Grande Valley.
As they fight breast cancer, the organisation gives financial, prosthetic, and diagnostic assistance.
"We are in our 19th year". We're overjoyed.
And in the years since we started this, we've given about $500,000 to valley women facing breast cancer,
event organiser Rees Langston told ValleyCentral.
In addition, $50,000 was given to the Valley Baptist Legacy Foundation for mammograms,
and more than $10,000 was given to other medical organisations, including the American Cancer Society.
